BAS page 332: Photocopy this PDF, cut it in two, and you can paste or tape it into two old BAS service books to bring them up to date for the Easter Vigil Service.

BAS page 627: Photocopy this PDF, cut it in two, and you can paste or tape it into two old BAS service books to bring them up to date for the Confirmation Service.

Avery Sticker Template: Photocopy this PDF onto an appropriate label format (i.e. Avery or other). Now you will have 20 labels 1”x4” that you can stick it into old BAS service books to bring them up to date for the Baptismal Promises, Easter Vigil and Confirmation Services. There should be space on each of the pages 159, 332 and 627 to fit the extra promise in.

If you wanted to remind your colleagues about this issue, here is a note that you could use to share these resources with them:

“Dear Colleagues,

At General Synod I was reminded of an omission that sometimes happens when we lead baptism services, or make reference to the baptismal vows during confirmations or at an Easter Vigil service: too often we omit the promise that refers to the Fifth Mark of Mission ( “To strive to safeguard the integrity of creation and sustain and renew the life of the earth.”) This can happen because that promise was added in 1990, after our BAS was first published (in 1985).

For custom service bulletins, it is important to refer to the latest online copy of the BAS. For older versions of the BAS that are in your pews, it is possible either to glue in a photocopy of the new pages 159, 332 and 627, or to stick in a mailing label with the the new promise printed on it. A mailing label template is available to download from www.zeroemissionchurches.ca/5thmarklabels

A printable handout is also available at the bottom of that page.

These resources will be moved to the web page of the Creation Matters Working Group as soon as that page is available.”

The 8.5x14” handout that was used at General Synod 2025 can be downloaded here.
